The year is 1994, and for the first time in ages, the Triwizard Tournament is occurring. Hogwarts has been chosen to host this momentous event, much to the delight of its students. Unfortunately, due to previous injuries and deaths, only those of age may submit their name to the Goblet of Fire, vastly reducing the number of students who are able. That doesn't mean that younger students can't try. Also doesn't mean that they'll succeed. What does the Triwizard Tournament have in store for the schools of Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons? Who will be chosen to participate, and most importantly, will they all come out in one piece?

Talia loved being at a different school. There was something about a different atmosphere that was soothing to the soul. Who was she kidding? She loved being at a new school because there was a lot more boys around now. She spent most of her time walking around the school, scoping out potential guys. Of course she kept up with her school work. As much as she loved being around boys everyday, she did still want to graduate and venture on into the adult world. That would mean adult boys who had awesome jobs. She would have an apartment as well. That would be a lot easier to, mingle in.
She had to admit, even though she loved having more boys around, it was a little weird being in a different country for school. It was also strange to her that all the parents just let this happen. The school was under great protection and what not, but it was still a long way to go. Obviously she could do whatever she wanted. Her foster family was huge and they rarely paid attention to her. When she had her eating disorder, it had taken them almost two weeks to figure out she wasn't eating anything. She didn't blame them though. It wasn't their fault they were guilt tripped into taking kids that needed new homes.
Walking around a school she didn't know may have been a bad idea. Talia looked around and she barely recognized where she was. As she passed a room, she breathed a sigh of relief. She knew the room was where they took potions, so she was in the dungeons. She knew how to get back to where she was staying from there, so she walked over to the empty classroom. It was about nine in the evening, so there were no classes and curfew was still about an hour away. She looked around before sneaking into the room. Why the door was unlocked, she didn't know. Maybe the professor had forgotten to lock it? Smiling to herself, she walked around. Potions was her favorite class, so getting to see the room without there being a lot of students was actually pretty cool. She trailed her hands on some beakers that were on the front counter. Hopefully she wouldn't get caught.
@danijel (Hope you don't mind I started a thread for them. You can decide if they know each other already. She's gonna try to jump him regardless. xD)
Danijel enjoyed potions. It was a subject in which he was deeply passionate, so much so that he would sometimes spend excessive amount of time reading books on the subject, as well as learning which ingredients would work best with other ones and what their effects would be. Unfortunately, he didn’t feel as if Potions class here was taught sufficiently. He was often left wondering ‘why?’ or ‘what would happen if x happened?’ These questions weren’t answered by the current professor. After many classes where Danijel felt unsatisfied, he finally took it into his own hands to find out. Over the past little while, he took notes in class of what was going on in his mind. To his luck, the Potions classroom was left unlocked and so he was able to enter to experiment on his own. Time passed quickly, and due to the fact that he was in the dungeons he hadn’t noticed the sun go down. He wasn’t overly concerned about curfews. His family background ensured that many non-dangerous rules were his to break if he so chose.
Unfortunately, the door to the room opened after a while and somewhat startled the young man, who was busy bent over the desk recording notes and observations of his discoveries. A pretty young girl entered. He recognized her, but not by name. He knew she was a Durmstrang girl. All Durmstrang girls held themselves differently than Hogwarts girls. They seemed more confident in a way. Besides, only a few students actually came from Durmstrang so he knew most of them by face. She seemed to not even notice he was there. He frowned.
“Shouldn’t a young woman like yourself be where you’re supposed to? It’s getting dark and who knows what people might think of your reputation should you be prowling around at night,” Danijel stated simply before bending back over his notes to record more before he lost his train of thoughts. He was quite unconcerned with his visitor. If she wanted to stay and observe his genius, so let her be.
Tatyana was on one side of the room looking at everything. There were cauldrons, beakers, test tubes, pretty much everything. Just laid out for anyone to come by a take, or break. Maybe the professor had left the door open on purpose thinking some student would want some extra practice? That would be reasonable, though they would probably have spells on them that made it so you couldn't take them out of the room. She wanted to test that theory out, but didn't really want to see what would happen if it was true.
She hadn't even noticed there was someone else in the room until she turned to walk the other direction. She almost jumped, but she held herself. She knew who the boy was, and couldn't help but smile. It was Danijel from Durmstrang. She knew the name of pretty much every boy in her school, and he was definitely not an exception to that. He was definitely one of the hottest boys at that school, and it was a shame that she had never spoken to him. Then again, his reputation wasn't the best. He was known for being a complete asshole, but that had never stopped her before.
"I can be wherever I'd like to be, but thanks for your concern. My reputation is what I make of it." She said as she started walking towards him. Her reputation wasn't the greatest, but she knew that. It was her decision to make it that way. It wasn't anyone's business who she slept with, but the whole school knew anyways. Once she graduated, the rumors and gossip would just be a thing of the past, so she didn't care. She got closer to him and looked over his notes. "Oh wow. Those are quite complex. How did you come up with them?" She may not be the classiest girl, but she was rather smart.
Danijel looked up at her and raised an eyebrow. “No, your reputation isn’t what you make of it, that’s your self-respect. A reputation is specifically different because it’s how the community at large thinks of you. A reputation is a powerful thing, but if you don’t even know what the word means, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that yours isn’t good.” He shook his head as if he had lectured a young child. Danijel was careful to never put his own name to shame. It wasn’t just himself on the line, but his father, mother, and sister. The Gostislav name was a powerful one. Then again, he wasn’t really concerned about ruining it for himself – men were usually better at keeping their emotions and actions under check. Women were always the ones acting impulsively on their emotions. It was why he was always checking in on his mother and sister – he couldn’t have them ruin the Gostislav name on a whim just because it was their time of month.
He looked at her as if he was confused to why she was still there. “Because I pay attention. I make notes on what I’m curious about and then I ... test them. Accepting everything at face value isn’t the way to learn. Hogwarts is too simplistic in their manner of teaching. They don’t let you think outside of the box. Then again, I’m sure you know that,” Danijel rambled slightly. “They’re years behind here. None of the students here would make it a term at Durmstrang.” He had no idea what he was talking about really, and in reality the schools were quite comparable, but Danijel wouldn’t hear anything of it. “I’m actually quite surprised and disappointed that I don’t find more of my peers putting in extra effort instead of just sliding by. They’re all going to fall behind at home if they don’t step it up.”
Danijel finished making a particularly long note in his book before turning his attention back to Tatyana. He always thought it was rude to not give full attention to someone, even if one hadn’t asked for the other’s presence. “Is there something I can help you with?” he didn’t seem to think that someone, particularly a girl, could go out of her way to just hang out with him. He always suspected that they needed something from him.
As he spoke to her, Tatyana couldn't help but feeling that he wasn't exactly the nicest person around. Still, he probably did have a point. "I actually have great self-respect, thanks. The community is a joke, and I could care less about what people think of me. I like me, so why should what think matter?" She gave a shrug to him and still kept standing there. There were people who cared about what others thought of them, but she thought it was ridiculous. In short time, she wouldn't even be at this school anymore and everyone here would be a thing of her past. She would go on to get a job and have a life, and she hoped she wouldn't see a lot of her classmates again. Maybe he was one of those who really cared, but she wasn't going to judge him like he was basically doing to her.
She scoffed in agreement to Hogwarts. "Oh, I know that. I've asked a simple question in class and gotten in trouble because they aren't that far into the subject yet. I'm sure the teacher just felt like a disgrace or something. I'm just glad I don't have to spend my last year here. I'd feel like I was missing part of my education." She rolled her eyes. Luckily she would get to go back to Durmstrang next year and try to make up for lost lessons. It wasn't that Hogwarts was poorly educated school, it just seemed that Durmstrang had more strict guidelines when it came to education. "Everyone seems to be getting lazy it seems. They start out eager to learn, and then as they go, they just give up. Most kick back into gear near the end because that's when they think it matters. It's really not though. Every year counts for something."
Tatyana liked that he was taking the time to make sure he got the best education he could. Not a lot of seventeen year old boys would do that, especially at a different school filled with new people. Then again, here she was, trying to do the same thing, only to a lesser extent. Then he asked if he could help her with something. That was a loaded question. She really wanted to just come on to him, but she wasn't entirely sure how he would react. He seemed like a gentleman. An asshole gentleman, but a gentleman nonetheless. He didn't seem like the kind of guy who would just turn to jell-o at her words. "Well, I didn't exactly come in here looking for help. I didn't even know anyone was in here to be honest. If you're willing, you can show me what you've got here." She gave him a genuine smile. She would just have to play this slowly.
