The year is 1994, and for the first time in ages, the Triwizard Tournament is occurring. Hogwarts has been chosen to host this momentous event, much to the delight of its students. Unfortunately, due to previous injuries and deaths, only those of age may submit their name to the Goblet of Fire, vastly reducing the number of students who are able. That doesn't mean that younger students can't try. Also doesn't mean that they'll succeed. What does the Triwizard Tournament have in store for the schools of Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons? Who will be chosen to participate, and most importantly, will they all come out in one piece?

so many books, so little time
Alice entered the library, brushing past the two Slytherin's blocking the door. They always hovered, as if they were waiting for someone. Alice could never understood why they did that. Sure, the library was a nice locale, but it was a dreary meeting place if one wasn't planning on studying or reading. The quiet rule put into effect was supposed to deter people from spending too much time chit-chatting or loudly carrying on, but students tended to ignore it. It was rather aggravating to the young Ravenclaw, who took her social gatherings to Hogsmeade or the school grounds. The library was for reading and for learning, and that was it. The redhead didn't enjoy being disturbed while trying to do actual school work, but, lucky for her, she had the perfect study-spot. It was seemingly untouched by the masses, and that's just how Alice liked it.
It was tucked away, a little alcove by the restricted section. Alice had missed it her first couple pass-through's of the library, it was so well-hidden. A small table, big enough for two people, maybe more if they crowded in, tucked in among the bookshelves. It was a perfect little haven, as if it were built specifically for the bookish girl. That was where Alice headed, with an armful of her school-work, as well as some parchment. Before studying, the girl was planning on writing letters to her brothers. Oh, how she missed them. The school year had only just started, but it already seemed like so much had happened. Alice liked keeping her family in the loop on the goings-on in Hogwarts, especially with the Chosen One being about. He was in her little sister's year, and always seemed to be getting into trouble.
The announcement of the Triwizard Tournament had come as quite a shock to the masses. It had seemingly come out of nowhere. Alice was happy that she was underage, unable to put her name into the Goblet. Her brothers would have jumped on the opportunity, had they still been in school, but Alice knew better than to throw her name into the fire. Even if she had been able to, she wouldn't have done it. Fame and glory didn't feel like something she wanted. Her brothers were already in the spotlight, having climbed the ranks and become Aurors in record-time, but Alice wasn't one to bathe in the lime light. She much preferred her private life, tucked in her private corner of the library, studying to her heart's content. Alice was a lion at heart, but her bravery was much more personal, targeted at defending others, not competing in tournaments.
The girl settled herself at the table, setting out all of her things. Already, it seemed as though they were piling on the homework. Sixth years, it seemed, were getting swamped in preparation for the N.E.W.T.s, a full year ahead of time. The O.W.L.s had gone rather well for Alice, with the girl acquiring all O's except for the three E's in Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, and History of Magic. Those three weren't as imperative for the girl to go on in her career: she wanted to focus mainly on Potions, Herbology, and Charms for her path as a healer, and Divination and Care of Magical Creatures for how fascinating they were. The girl was planning on spending her time, after writing her letters to her brothers, on the paper on Felix Felicius that was due in Potions within the week.
Not moments after Alice had sat down, pulled out her raven's feather quill, and begun to write the first letter to her eldest brother, someone plopped down into the seat in front of her. The redhead attempted to suppress a frown, disappointed and confused. No one ever bothered her in her hiding spot. Hell, she had been sure that no one had even known where it was. The girl peered up from her parchment, raising an eyebrow at the person sitting across the table from her. "Can I help you with something?" Alice asked, trying not to sound overtly annoyed at being interrupted.
