The year is 1994, and for the first time in ages, the Triwizard Tournament is occurring. Hogwarts has been chosen to host this momentous event, much to the delight of its students. Unfortunately, due to previous injuries and deaths, only those of age may submit their name to the Goblet of Fire, vastly reducing the number of students who are able. That doesn't mean that younger students can't try. Also doesn't mean that they'll succeed. What does the Triwizard Tournament have in store for the schools of Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons? Who will be chosen to participate, and most importantly, will they all come out in one piece?

Sirius scratched his face. The hair there was itchy and it bothered him ferociously, but obtaining a razor was not something that was high on his priority list. His clothes were ragged and he was sure he was recognized in them a week or so back, so he knew he had to get a new outfit at some point in the near future. The fewer people that knew what he looked like the better. The shard of mirror that he had affixed to the cave wall was something that he tried not to look into too often. His grey eyes were sunken and had lost their shine. His hair and beard were unkempt and shaggy. His skin had a yellowish tinge and he was all skin and bones. Sirius had never been heavy by any stretch of the imagination, but this was a whole new level of thin. Sirius could hardly recognize himself anymore... he didn't know how anyone else could. But yet on the odd occasion when he risked going into town in his human form, his eyes would meet someone's and he knew, he just knew that they were wondering if it could truly be the infamous Sirius Black. The mass murderer who betrayed his best friends and was a loyal servant to the Dark Lord. He didn't know what part of that accusation stung the most - likely the bit about betraying James. He wished the murderer part was true... well, only if it meant that he had killed Wormtail. The creepy bastard. His nickname matched his personality. And appearance. Not that Sirius could say much about appearances lately. He still liked to think that he was more attractive than Peter, no matter the circumstances, even if he had been dead for a couple of weeks.
Buckbeak had been gone for longer than he usually had. Sometimes he'd leave for a day or two at a time but now it had been nearly a week. As much as the creature had become clingy, Sirius grew restless and somewhat manic when left alone. He could feel his mind eating away at him and the only thing that kept him going was his letters from his godson or the knowledge that he was going crazy. If he knew he was going mad, it meant that he wasn't quite there yet. As he looked at his reflection, all he wanted was the bright smile from when he was sixteen, not this scowl that now seemed permanently affixed. It had only been months since his freedom was returned to him, but as he sweltered in the summer heat all he could think about was that this wasn't how he imagined his freedom: literally hanging out in caves with a hippogriff. Alone. It wasn't to say he wasn't grateful. He had cleared his name in the mind of the only person who was important to him. That thought cheered him on his lowest days. He needed a way out, but didn't know how without giving himself away. All he could hope was that he could find Peter. If he was able to do that, then he could be a free man for good, and hopefully with an apology from the Ministry - but he supposed the freedom itself would do. Unfortunately he had no leads, and with no one that he could trust outside of three fourteen year old kids (whom he frequently wondered forgot him), his outlook didn't seem so bright.
Sirius went to the outside of his cave and sat on the ground. The air was more brisk than down in Hogsmeade, but it was still unnaturally warm. If he had any meat on his bones he'd probably be extremely uncomfortable. After such a long, cold, and wet Spring, though, he supposed things could be worse.

The days had been rather slow for Emilia. Her job wasn't always filled with chasing bad guys down, a lot of the time it was paper work or processing the paper work. There havent been many leads and if there were, they were taken by others before she had even gotten the chance. It both bothered her but didn't at the same time, a lot of those who were taking the leads were those who were training others which made since in her mind. Her desk was a decent size and rather organized one might say. This morning, something was off on her desk, something had been moved. She only noticed this because where she had kept her quills was now empty. Her bright eyes peered over her desk for anything else that could be out of place but nothing came to mind. someone must had needed all three of her quills. her hand reached to the lower right hand drawer, she did not feel her quills but folder rather. She instantly knew what it was, her boss did this often to some employees who hadn't hit their quota for the month of following leads. she was embarrassed but would take anything other than paper work for the day. she immediately grabbed her coat and off she was.
She poofed herself to Hogsmeade, which was where to location was. he didn't have a name, it merely listed a description of him. male; dark shaggy hair; beard; looks like a hobo; ragged clothing; Last seen: near mountain; threat level: A these things didn't really mean anything to her, she'd taken down several threat A's before, this one wasn't any different. she just had to be more clever and careful.
Hogsmeade was rather warm this morning, most shops hadn't even opened yet. she wasn't going to just go straight there to his last seen spot not this early in the morning, it would cause suspicion. she would wait a bit longer, take in the sights even. She hadn't been here since she was at hogwarts almost 15+ years ago.
Everything was so peacful, she almost enjoyed her little flashback to the past. She couldn't actually believe how much she had missed this place to be honest. A ton of good memories had been made here with people she no longer talks to. this saddened her for a moment before something caught her eye.
It was something in the sky, something flying and rather big. big enough to ride on anyways. It was a little ways off but she watch it fly almost in a circle high in the sky before landed and disappearing into the mountain. much like her notes mentioned before. She had decided it was time for her to see what this lead was all about. perhaps it was nothing or maybe it was something completely different. either way, if all signs point north you might as well go that way.
{FF like 10 mins?}
Emilia tried her hardest to be as sneaky as possible, as she neared the entrance, suddenly the large animal wooshed from the entrance and off into the big world again. She paused for a moment, her back pressed again the side of the mountain, she was started to feel a little nervous but this always happened before the action.
she slipped into the cave hopefully without making too much of a ruckus, and advanced slowly, looking out for someone/anyone who may be in the cave.

It was if Buckbeak had read Sirius' mind. Not ten minutes after he thought of his fine feathered friend did the beast appear in the sky, flying toward him - with what looked like half a deer carcass in his mouth. He grinned to himself. Okay, perhaps this day wasn't going to be so bad after all. At least he'd get food in his stomach that he didn't have to steal or beg for. Not that he ever reduced himself to begging. Sirius Black might be a lot of things, but a beggar wasn't one of them. Ever since he left home he had always been a little sensitive on the subject of needing things from others. This was truly the first time in his life that he needed people, and the first time he had no one. His inheritance money was long gone, no longer there to support him when he fell. He spent a little too heavily in the years following Hogwarts and it wasn't like he could show up at Gringotts and ask to go into his vault. Besides, no, someone in his family probably went to court and got it back, perhaps by saying that his uncle had been out of his mind when his will was written - or worse yet, they used the Imperius Curse on the right people to get that money. No matter how heavily he had spent over a decade ago, it was still enough to put effort into getting.
Buckbeak entered the cave and dropped the bloody carcass on the ground. Warm blood seeped from the body, making Sirius know that this was a fresh kill. Like Sirius, Buckbeak wasn't prone to scavenging. After nuzzling Sirius' side (and knocking him over slightly), Buckbeak turned to leave immediately, much to Sirius' surprise and annoyance. He didn't particularly like Buckbeak coming and going so often. Hippogriffs weren't particularly common, and the last thing he needed was attention drawn to the mountains. Sirius tried not to worry about it. Admittedly his guard was a little down. It didn't take long for him, and it was ultimately his downfall every time.
Sirius watched Buckbeak fly off into the distance before taking a sharp turn downward and disappeared into the forest. Something must have caught his eye. Already Sirius' eyes were heavy. He turned back to the animal corpse and figured he should probably cut it apart and cook it before it went bad, yet his eyes felt heavy with fatigue. It didn't take him long to be exhausted anymore. He felt like an old man in a young man's body... not that thirty-four, almost thirty-five, was really "young" anymore. He refused to admit that he was getting older.
However, just as he turned he noticed a shadow. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust from the bright sunlight to the dark cave so he almost missed the woman near the entrance of the cave. His fight or flight kicked in and he reached for his wand, only to realize that he had a hole in his pocket as his trousers had become too ragged. His wand was across the cave, not that he knew that in that particular moment. Instead of searching for it, he instead lunged for the figure and tackled her to the ground. Sirius had admittedly thought the intruder had been a man, but knew he was wrong the moment he felt her petite body beneath his own. He reached for her wrists and held them above her head on the hard ground, his eyes searching her face angrily and desperately. His heart pounded in his nearly concave chest... this couldn't be. He had yet to see anyone this far in the mountains. She had known he was there, it had to be it, and the worst part was that he couldn't just let her leave. It would be the death of him.
"What are you doing here?!" he demanded. Sirius was surprised about how gravelly his voice sounded. It sounded old. Old and tired. "What d'you want?"
Her brown hair covered her face, just enough that Sirius couldn't see the eyes that had once looked at him with such delight.

Out of nowhere, Emilia was tackled to the ground! something she wasn't expecting to happen to her. She personally had planned to take this man down, if it turned out to be the man she wasn't looking for she would simply apologize and it would be that. However, the fact that he tackled her made her realized this was him. The class A target she had been looking for. Was she scared? of course, in this line of work you're always scared but she was more brave than she was scared and more clever than she was dumb.
In a moment she was on the ground with her hands above her hand. was she worried about being violated? a little but she was more worried about dying the this mans stinky breath to be honest. She couldn't get a look at this man's face, her long brown hair had gone everywhere it seemed, blinding her temporary. This man didn't seem to know she was a hit-wizard, so she had to keep it that way. when he started asking questions. "I saw the hippogriff, I wanted to see it up close" she lied. It was a panicky sounding tone she had. as if she was terrified of this man that attacked her. She was making him believe he was in control of the situation; a false sense of security for him at least. hoping it would bring his guard down. "when it left I thought maybe I could hide in here so when it returned I could see it up close" lying again.
She struggled in his grip, but soon 'gave up' and just started to blow the hair out of her face so she could at least see who this target was. The moment she opened her eyes and her eyes met his. She knew exactly who he was despite his disgusting body odor, terribly dirty face and hair. something in her knew who he was. It brought back memories of hogwarts which almost made her really embarrassed. She could feel her heart skip a beat as she thought about that time, the very first time she had actually felt some sort of a connection with another human being. something that had felt so right, something she hadn't felt since that one night.
At the same time, she started to grow angry and hurt. angry because nothing every became of them when they were young, that she had been whisked away and they lost contact and he hadn't tried to do anything about it but she couldn't just be angry at him, she was angry at herself too for letting so much time pass and she didn't do anything to get in contact with him either but from the looks of it, she probably would have had a very hard time doing so.
She couldn't really pin point as to why she was hurt by this, was it because he looked like a mess, like a lion in a circus, much to thin for their health and in terrible shape. Perhaps it was because of her job, she was sent here to capture and detain this target and bring him to jail, it was only a lead though, most probably didn't think it would pan-out to be anything.
she wanted to say several things to him, some of them were mean and some weren't. but nothing could really get out of her mouth. it was like she had lost her voice for moment the only think she could get out was "Why do you live in a cave?"

Sirius knew that attacking her looked like guilt... and it was. He could have just waited for her to come in and have a merry discussion or whatnot, but he couldn't risk it. If she ran, he'd have to attack her outside of the cave and that would have been more difficult. For someone who didn't have many calories in his diet anymore, she could get away. He didn't know what else to do. He also didn't know how good she was at magic. Sirius' strongest skill was dueling, but it didn't do him much good when his wand hadn't been in his pocket. As Sirius straddled the woman, he could feel how much his joints hurt, how much his whole body hurt. Although she wasn't particularly big, Sirius worried about her fighting back. As embarrassing as it would be to lose a physical fight to a woman, he also didn't have much muscle mass anymore. Holding her wrists where they were was a good start, but that was all.
"If you had eyes, you would have seen that it had left," Sirius sneered. She was lying. Even if she hadn't been, he would have assumed that she was. For him, nearly every person was a potential enemy, this woman was no different. The whole world had thought him guilty when he wasn't, and it was the same now as it was thirteen years ago. It was only right that he should assume the same of others as well. It would be stupid of him to think that anyone would believe the Sirius Black was innocent. She seemed frightened, and he began to wonder if she was truly as dangerous as he initially believed. Even if she was after him, it didn't mean that she was dangerous. She could just be a fool. A part of Sirius' heart where he was still naive began to feel sorry for her. What if she had been in the wrong place at the wrong time? No, he couldn't let himself think like that. She was the enemy, idiot or not. "There's no reason for you to believe it had come back. There's no way you would sit here and just hope it would return. Don't you know they're dangerous? Didn't you go to school?" He was beginning to ramble, hoping to catch her in her lie.
The woman blew her hair out of her face and despite the fact that she had aged (which she was evidently doing quite well), recognition hit him like a ton of bricks. He had known Emilia Mcinnis for years. Well, not that well, not except for that one night where he felt like he knew her inside out. He didn't think he would recognize her if he had ever seen her again. He wondered if she knew who he was. He had clearly changed much more than she. Sirius began to panic. He had never wanted to see Emilia in this position, he never thought he would be pinning her down (at least in this way) or be threatening towards her. Sirius' grip loosened a little due to his shock but he couldn't give himself away. If she didn't know who he was... well, he didn't want her to figure it out. Sirius didn't want her to see him like this. He felt disgusting and ashamed. He may as well have not even been the same person that he was in Hogwarts. So much had changed, so much time had passed...
"I'm living off the grid, sue me," he grumbled. It was a phrase he had heard from Muggle students in Hogwarts. It had something to do with elektricatee or something along those lines and he didn't really get it, but he understood the basic concept. It was a bit like homelessness, was it not? "I can't let you leave," he suddenly blurted. It was much more threatening than he intended, but he meant every word. He couldn't go back to Azkaban. He couldn't let people know where he was. As far as he was aware, he was wanted dead or alive, and he assumed that no one would hesitate to go for the former option.

Of course everyone knew hippogriffs they were dangerous, she couldn't couldn't act dumb about that. but people now-a-days had no sense of adventure, they thought of putting themselves in danger was fantastic at times. "You could say I have a crazy sense of adventure." she commented.
She knew exactly who this man was. He had aged, not terribly well but probably due to living in a cave. It pained her to see him like this. He was a skeleton, men were suppose to be in their prime and he clearly wasn't. she had to remembered, he was a convicted murderer for the murder of Lily and James Potter many years ago. He was a threat to her but at the same time she couldn't see it as that. Her heart and gut were telling her she could relax but her brain told her not too. She was at her wits end with this situation. She had to choose what she wanted and what was right. What was right was to turn him in, he was a known murderer who was on the loose, it probably wasn't easy for him to run around without worry. He was literally a prisoner in his own home? Cave? what ever you would call this place.
The whole point she was here was to follow a lead, a lead that should have been nothing, If she hadn't gotten this lead someone else would have and it would have ended badly. If anyone else had come, he would be sent back to Azkaban instantly. Most of her coworker's would have used their wands but Emilia likes the personal approach because most do not expect it. she was pulled from her own thoughts when he stated she couldn't leave. At first it seemed like a threat and started to get defensive but she came to her senses before saying or doing anything. She knew, for his safety he wouldn't allow her to just leave and it made sense. "Well you cant stay here" she blurted out. the moment after she didn't actually know where he could go. really anywhere he went he would probably be discovered which is something he obviously didn't want. She wanted to help him, really but he was a convicted murderer! how could she help him?
He could some live with her in the country side. She didn't think she was willingly to harbor a high class criminal in her personal home. the same criminal she was suppose to be hunting down. But the same time she couldn't just leave him here. She noticed the dead animal off to the side. he probably wouldn't be able to cook the meat because the smoke would likely attract attention. Eating large amounts of raw meat was a terrible idea; but not eating would cause him to die anyways so either way he's kind of screwed.
At part of her wanted him in her life again... It was stupid of her, they had spent one night together over fifteen years ago. One night in her life she couldn't forget about. It was like he was an almost lover, those were always the hardest to forget about or get over. She had to decide now, this instance what she had to do. the selfish part of her wanted...no... needed him, and he obviously needed her. Yes, he was a convicted murder or his best friend and his wife and they had all gone to school together, it was also known that he had been doing the bidding of he who must not be named. For all she knew, he would just murder her. Something caught her attention though, the fact that if he had been working for he who must not be named, she felt that his employer wouldn't really leave such a loyal server to die in a cave. Or maybe he would, she didn't actually know.
She decided that she had to turn him in. It was the right thing to do, he could murder other! it was a public safety issues. "Sirius..." her bright eyes locked with him. "you have to come with me" she stated seriously. her heart was pounding. This was her job, he had to be taken down, he was a danger to the general public. Her words started to get caught in her throat.
Here she was, in the same position one as before except it was different. This man to which she once had strong feelings for, these feelings which she had stored away out of her mind for so many years breaking free like a man who had been imprisoned. "Come live with me" she blurted out. It wasn't what she was going to say, she was going to say something about him being under arrest.
There was no going back for her. She had invited him into home despite her being worried of him murdering her. She was more worried about him dying honestly. It's a bit large for just one person and it's in the country, the closest town is roughly 40km away from it and I don't have any neighbors near by."

Sirius raised an eyebrow at her response, a grin almost forming on his lips. His sense of adventure was as strong as ever. It was what made his recklessness so dangerous. He always had an urge to be on the move, discovering things, doing something. Of course Emilia would have the one answer that made him want to smile, despite the fact that he wasn't even sure she knew who he was. It was Emilia after all. When she continued to speak, he was surprised. Instead of taking his words as a threat, she had seen it for what it was: desperation. "I can bloody well stay where I want," he grumbled. She didn't seem like she was threatening him, either, but what did he know? He hardly ever had any social interaction anymore. He couldn't see what she was trying to get at immediately, but something within him was telling him that she wasn't here to capture him. Perhaps she was lying about the hippogriff, but unless all his senses had abandoned him, perhaps she was here to tell him that they were on to him. Perhaps she was giving him a chance to escape. But why? What did Emilia truly know about him, especially after all this time? What made her choose now to come to him?
Sirius' eyes widened at the sound of his name. So she did know who he was. His expression softened and emotions overwhelmed him. It was probably the sheer exhaustion and loneliness, but his heart ached at the sound of his name in someone's mouth without the bitter look of hatred. He wanted in that instant to just let her go, consequences be damned. Sirius was still understandably very bitter himself, and he had been taking it out on others. He had elaborate plans in his mind on how he would take Peter out... how he would take Bellatrix... hell, anyone who had wronged him. Sometimes his thoughts were completely fucked up, but yet now he just felt like it was all wrong. It was amazing what his name said in the right tone could make him feel like, especially coming from the right person.
However, he shook his head, his greasy hair shaking. "No, I'm not going back," he said, rather quickly as if forming proper sentences was foreign to him. "I can't... no..." he didn't seem completely coherent. His mind went back to his days in Azkaban and how worthless and terrible he felt. At times he had even wondered if he had murdered James and Lily, as impossible as it seemed. The dementors made him think and feel things that he never thought were possible. The horrible blackness had spread through his body like a disease and nothing ever seemed right. It just felt like an inevitable doom was coming for him at any time. The thought of going back to Azkaban made him shaky. It wasn't just about being in prison, no, it was like being in hell. "If I go back they won't let me leave again." He believed every word with his whole heart. It was something he had contemplated for quite some time now and it always sent him into a panic. It's not like he had never thought about it. He knew he was innocent, but he supposed it didn't mean much. He knew he was innocent thirteen years ago and nothing had come of it, but he couldn't keep living like a fugitive. His whole livelihood at been taken from him. Sirius at this point was merely a shell of who he used to be, but he knew he had to trust Dumbledore's words... he knew he had to remain in hiding until they could catch Wormtail. Dumbledore wouldn't let him down.
Sirius stared at Emilia as if she were crazy. He held her with less force than before, but he didn't get up yet either. He felt dumbfounded. "No. This is a trick." She hadn't tried to fight him off yet, which in itself was suspicious. His wand caught his eye across the cave, so he released Emilia from beneath him and scrambled over to it. He stood up, his posture a mockery of how it used to be as a teenager, and he pointed it at her. She knew him. She wouldn't be so stupid as to try to duel him. Sirius' eyes went wildly to the entrance of the cave. "Is someone coming behind you? Are you stalling?" Paranoia ate away at him. "Stop it. STOP." He paced suddenly and his hands flew to his head as he muttered nonsense under his breath before finally stopping and pointed his wand at her again. "I am a mass murderer, Emilia. I killed James and ... and ..." his voice cracked and he almost broke down then and there. How much he wished that he had an ally with him at that moment, someone who truly believed in him. It couldn't be that easy. Sirius had been alone for over a decade and it couldn't just change in an instant. "What have you become?" The question hung in the air, and he wasn't sure if it was for himself or for her. "I'm not going to let you capture me, I'm not! No..." he edged his way along the wall of the cave to the other side. He looked behind him on the precarious trail. "I'm going to leave now and you're going to let me. Don't be daft, now. We can both walk away from this."

She scoffed when he grumbled about living however he wanted too. Obviously he could do that if he wanted to die, which was likely to happen or him being discovered could happen as well. Next thing she knew, Sirius was scrambling off of her for his wand she could only guess. She followed suit in the standing part, but by this time his wand was already pointing at her. She watched as he basically went insane in front of her, she couldn’t handle this. She wouldn’t be able to watch someone, anyone go through this and watching someone she for some god forsaken reason had heartstrings for, go through this pained her even more. She stayed in slightly bent over motion to seem the least bit threatening. This was a tactic she often used on targets.
She knew his dueling abilities of the past… but when was the last time he had actually dueled? Perhaps he would be rusty? She couldn’t let him go, no not this time. ” Expelliarmus” she murmured and flicked her wrist lightly. It was the only wand less magic she could go but man was it a lifesaving move a lot of the time. In one swift motion, Emilia did what looked like a cartwheel and a front flip at Sirius to shrink the distance between them, the moment she landed on her feet in front of him, she clocked him across the face. She watched him as he fell over to the ground. Honestly she didn’t expect that punch to knock him out but he must have been that week. She sighed slightly at his motionless body on the ground. ”You’re so difficult you know?” she stated. She started to walk to pick up his wand, it was his and he’d probably want it when he woke up. Of course, she wouldn’t give it to him, she’d lock it up.
she moved to just outside of the cave and grabbed her bag she left out there with all her supplies. She opened her bag and pulled out a large cloak and a black bag. She slipped the back over Sirius’s head and managed to clip the cloak around his neck. While in the squatting position, she managed to shimmy Sirius over her shoulder. He wasn’t as heavy as she expected him to be but still a bit heavy. She carried him over her shoulder back to hogsmeade, she did get some odd glares but she just flashed her fancy badge and they left her alone. Once she made her way to the fireplace, she took some floo powder and clearly but loud spoke ”Ministry of Magic” green flames engulfed them as they suddenly appeared in one of the fire places in the new location. She made her way back to her department to finish the paper work on this ‘case’. It only took a few minutes before she arrived back at her desk. She placed Sirius in the chair facing hers, he was still K.O’d. ”Who do you got there?” asked Liam, another hit-wizard who often talked to her for whatever reason he could come up with… ”Teenage run away. Classified. “ she stated as she finished the paperwork. ”Oh, I could notify the parents for you if you’d like, so you can go home early If you want.”
”I already did that, They actually requested a drop off, but you know, classified an all” This man would eat her words up like a raccoon eating garbage. He was always eager to talk to her which she thought was kind of weird. ”Alright, if you say so?” he shrugged and left. ” If you were awake right now, you’d be flipping shit” she stated before leaning back in her chair. ”Actually Liam, could you carry him to my car?” instantly, Liam was right there ready to help. Emilia watched as Liam carefully picked Sirius up. ”he was a bit of a fighter, had to knock him out.” she stated. Liam started talking but she wasn’t really listening. She was totally using this guy for her leisure but hey, he was useful for some things. She had just carried a grown ass man down a mountain, through a town and into her office. Then she’ll have to carry him in her house tonight. What has she gotten herself into.
Once they arrived to the parking lot. ”so what do you think about that?” Liam asked. ”Oh I don’t know, let me get back to you tomorrow about that” she actually had no idea what he asked, she assumed it was something along of the lines of a date. ”Alrighty sure.” he nodded as they approved her red car.
She opened the passenger side door and Liam placed the K.O.ed Sirius inside. ”Thanks Liam, You really did me a solid” she placed her hand on his shoulder in a friendly matter before they said their goodbyes. Liam left and she crawled into the driver side and started of her adventure home.
